JEN, first of all, you did a wonderful thing by donating your hair. My hair was shoulder length (layered) and a baseball cap was my best friend while camping. I also always have a cap to wear after taking off my motorcycle helmet (talk about a bad hair day, all smushed down, ugh.) Also nice are those hinged comb-type things, I liked pulling all my hair straight back and then clipping it at the nape of my neck. Important not to have it in my face, especially when tending to food over a fire, plus it's just annoying to constantly be brushing it out of my eyes with every breeze. Now my hair is quite a bit shorter which makes for less time drying it and styling it, much easier. I don't worry about what it looks like when we camp TOO much, after all it's nice to enjoy a break from having to blow it dry and curl it every morning, camping is like a hair vacation for me. The funny part is I'll feel like it looks terrible because I haven't done anything with it other than wash it, and my husband will say he really likes it that way! Maybe he needs glasses.... :)

Pesky; hope the surgery went well. What did your DH end up doing during the surgery time? I can't wait to hear how it went. Last time I looked at LOL they wouldn't take colored; that's why I didn't donate a few years ago. We had a post in this section maybe 2 years ago; which is probably in la la land lol I went to the LOL site & it does say colored but not high lighted; so I'm glad they adjusted that finally. I know they give wigs to children up to 21. I did more reading; they've added a lot since I was there last; seems like the alopecia kids get the real hair & cancer kids get synthetic; I don't remember that from when my daughter donated in 2006. I'm going to paste in a few Q & A's below The young man needing a wig is a child hood cancer survivor that now has brain cancer. I'm not sure if his hair ever grew back or not. His mom made a post the other day in frustration looking to find a decent mens wig for him. It sounded like they've looked around some & he wasn't happy with what they found. I know he's having a very tough time being diagnosed with cancer again; I'm not sure if he'll even survive. The mom is a single parent; she's been staying with friends because her furnace broke. I'm going to look into finding him a wig or sending her in the right direction which was hard to do because I didn't know what state they lived in. Hopefully she'll tell me his age; I'm unsure exactly how old he is; I don't think he's over 25. I know she mentioned it a few times; mentally I noted he was close to my sons age. Locks Of Love Q. I go to a yarn store where they give classes. They encourage customer to knit chemo caps for charity. For every cap I donate, I get either a free knitting class or a chance to win $200 in knitting supplies. So far I've made 2. Think I'll go for one class and one chance at the free merchandise. Can't post photos, but I'll describe the caps-one is green and white stripes, the other is multi-color.

I don't have one, but would LOVE one!! There was a big discussion on wine fridges on this site, altho its about 5 years long: www.wine.woot.com Thing is, I don't store wine long enough to make it worthwhile. I have about 30 bottles in my big collection, :) and the ones that should be stored for years - well they say the fridges don't last that long. You need a wine cellar for that. As for chilling whites, I have a dorm-sized fridge that I keep them in. If I do decide to get one, I will wait until our 12-yr old border collie passes, as the only spot I have to put one is his favorite hangout. here's the link to a forum thread about wine coolers.
