Colored and perfumed face creams :-(
Comments (5)Kim, I thought the same thing about Dove Pro Age. I'm going back to Dove for sensitive skin. Sue, I've been using moisturizers since I was 16, and I'm not stopping now! :-) Paula, those serum products are interesting. I haven't tried the Regenerist, but my daughter bought me one from Estee Lauder. I don't know if it's doing anything for my skin long-term, but it makes it feel like velvet. I also liked a sample of a Clinique serum that I tried....See MoreWhat colors worked in your NW-facing low-natural-light rooms?
Comments (31)Thank you for your help everybody, I finally found one color that works in both rooms. It is a BM Gentle Cream which is in the off-white collection. I wanted more color but it looks like with the northern exposure combined with the low ceiling and narrow rooms there is just no visual space for anything more intense. Gentle Cream actually lives up to its name, it doesn't look pink or peach in either room and not too yellow either (Papaya was a little too yellow). And yes, the type if bulbs makes a big difference. We have some kind of "true light" in the DR, similar to Reveal and this particular color looks more yellow there. The LR has halogen recessed lights and the color has a slight green tint to it in that room. I also encountered this issue in my kids' bathroom. Picked a countertop which looked beige-cream in the showroom, almost exactly like the color of the tile we selected. I did cheked the sample at home but during the day, the lighting wasn't istalled yet in the bathroom. Once installed, the counter looked almost yellow in the bathroom with the regular flood bulbs. I couldn't believe I was so off with the color! However, after we switched the bulbs to white light it looks a lot closer to what I thought I picked...See MoreFace cream recommendation
Comments (26)I hesitate to recommend anything because I admit to being biased and reluctant to change anything about my routine that has worked for me. I do think if you are having very dry skin issues you need to look at more than just moisturizer. Start with basic hydration (are you getting enough water intake, for example, and watch the caffeine, sugar-based drinks). Next look at whatever you are cleaning your face with and make sure it isn't drying. Then look at your moisture regime. Most of us, as we age, need to change up whatever has worked for us in the past. I layer, first using a fruit-acid exfoliant, then a Vitamin-C & E antioxidant serum, and then Bobbi Brown's Vitamin Enriched Face Base (day) or Bobbi's Hydrating Intense Night Cream (night). If my face gets really dry I use Bobbi's Extra Repair Moisturizing Balm (I sometimes put some of this on before I go outside to run in the winter). It's not cheap, but I get compliments on my skin all the time. And most of these products last a long time because it doesn't take much. Make sure your makeup isn't giving you a dry look too....See MoreSo easy Sooo good lemon ice cream
Comments (69)Just put my 2nd batch in the freezer. Changed the recipe to use 2 Tablespoons less sugar. I also combined the sugar, milk, and cream as the first step. Then I grated and squeezed the lemon. When I was ready to stir the lemon into the cream mixture, the sugar was close to being dissolved so that I had reduced the amount of stirring I had done with the first batch when I followed directions. Better method. Can't wait for it to freeze up, but it will be a couple more hours....See Morealisande
