anti aging products

How are you supposed to know what works? Its insane the amount of products & promises. Or is it all ineffective? so i guess what it comes down to the only real solution is fillers and surgery, so you get what you pay for!

I have been using Roc night cream (has retinol) and everyone comments on my skin - I am 63 and my skin has the radiance of someone a lot younger - I have no wrinkles at all. I also use Pond's cold cream to remove make up (which I use everyday - even in the yard) and then a use a buff puff with Cetaphil (not soap) to wash my face, then apply the Roc cream - It works, otherwise no one would comment on my skin - has to be that because I should have way more dry skin and wrinkles than I do at my age.

I have never used soap on my face (only Cetaphil) and have used a buff puff for years... it helps smooth and soften my complexion - I swear by all three products

having seen my mom's skin, who didn't have sunblock, and whose beauty creams were four different kinds of petroleum jelly?

I think the only thing that might have improved her skin (which was consistently 20 years younger than she was) was sunblock.

if you're looking for something to undo damage? exfoliation is your best bet - gentle, regular exfoliation, whether mechanical (baking soda) or chemical (yogurt, papaya or other hydroxy-acidn sources)

my worry with fillers is that if you put caulk in a crack, the crack will then flex on 'both' sides of that caulk, and increase the damage in the long term.

me? I'm sticking with kitchen-witchery, sunblock, and Oil of Olay.

Don't smoke or drink either. And there's no question that desert is a major food group! :)) I use Olivia Care Olive Oil Soap on my face and in the shower - love the Verbena scent and all those suds! In the winter I don't need moisturizer. I buy it at TJMaxx. For 20 years I've used a Buff Puff on my face. For facial moisturer Jergens Skin Firming Lotion. I've used several others that I really liked, and every time I ran out and went to buy more, they were discontinued or had added obnoxious fragrance. How exasperating! I don't like the strong fragrance in the heavier duty "regenerating" lotions. I find that smiling works best on the Howdy Doody lines - hate those things! Can't bring myself to lay out $20 for a tiny little jar so I guess this is it. Sherry

I was in my neighborhood "postal store" yesterday using their copy machine & a tall, slim, good-looking gal came in, I'd guess her age about late 30ties. She was obviously bringing something in to have wrapped & remailed to its source. I overheard her exclaim something about "$99 a month!". Being the curious type, I asked her what she was returning & she replied "Anti-wrinkle cream and it doesn't work!" She went on to say that this product was something she saw heavily advrtised on television (sorry I forgot to ask the product name) & she bought into it, also not realizing it was some kind of ongoing beauty program that was going to cost her $99 a month. She said she thought of keeping her original order as a "moisturizer" but decided that even the first $99 wasn't worth it and "will I ever learn?" The charming lady owner of the postal business kind of smiled at that point and said that she was the fifth woman in the last month who had come in for a re-wrap & return mailing of that very same product! What is it about if something seems to good to be true....

The only thing that's keeping genuine anti-aging out of the USA is the socialist mercenary powers that be. I.E. Big Pharma, AMA, FDA yada yada. Otherwise, there'd already be repair stem-cell clinics here (meaning mesenchymal stem cell injection therapy), rather than having to travel to Beike or Wu clinics in China. As well as laser tech, nanoparticle therapy, and gene splicing As well as cutting edge quantum-physics based diagnostics such as Indigo or L.I.F.E. And yes!! So-called primitive medical leeches, for genuine detox prior to repair, since any repair attempts without first detoxifying, would be like painting on rust. The time is not so far off, when everyone will get to see the degree to which our lovely governments have kept our so-called "health"care system unconscionably primitive. Perhaps, just perhaps, at that time, the public will have wisened up enough to be furious at the tyrants of "that primitive era".

The FTC is a toothless, old dog that can barely muster the energy to lifts its head from its pillow on the porch and give a half-hearted bark as a stream of robbers stream in and out of the house carrying out all of your possessions. We are no longer a nation of citizens, we are a collection of consumers, and to the corporate plutocrat capitalists, and their bought and paid for lackeys on Capitol Hill, "Truth" is a quaint, outdated notion that often stands in the way of "The Greater Truth" -- bottomless rapacious greed. Every couple of years we get a "choice" between someone who hopes to do "good" for the people in some small way but who readily compromises in the hopes of getting anything done, and who spends most of their time in service of the interests of the organizations that fund their campaign; and someone who'd rather die than compromise their core beliefs, which are whatever bests helps the banks and rich corporation owners maintain, consolidate and further increase their mind boggling wealth. P.S. Those are the only two choices you get. Now get out and vote.

Hi Ladies, I'm new here and beauty is my specialty. There are definitely a ton to choose from and not all work as well as others. But to answer luvmypets statement: no, not all of the products are ineffective.

I actually wrote a piece on anti-aging on my beauty blog, but I'm afraid to show you the link for fear of violating the advertising rules (even thought it is a link to a blog post not selling). Essentially what I said is starting early to take care of your skin will help fight the hands of time as well as using sunblock, and lastly... moisturize moisturize moisturize!
