Have your ever divided any muhly's? I'm wondering about the 2 undaunted Muhly's I moved, they looked punk all season like big grasses aways do when you move a mature clump. I'm wondering if I should dig them out and divide them to make smaller plants like those you have up there? Mine originally filled out fairly quickly. I planted them in fall and by the next year they made nice sized blooming plants, then the next year they were 3ft wide which was bigger than HCG had indicated. By the way, they changed the name, they were called 'Autumn Glow' back before HCG closed their local store and quit selling as many natives. Maybe they changed it since they glow in summer, not autumn? I wish they'd go back to selling those hard to find natives like they used to carry. The ones you bought look like 2 year old plants judging by the old growth that was trimmed back at the base or maybe they are divisions from a large plant?

Devo, Etch-a-Sketch is a newly-named cross of punctatissima rubra and pascoaliana. I just sent a shipment of over 100 of my hybrids to Michael Kiehl, which is my first release of many of them, and since he has a much easier time selling named hybrids I promised him I'd name them all first. What a brain-buster that was, but I think the name fits that one pretty well. My next task is to start registering them all. Stephania, I haven't got a name for the Ae. correia-araujoi x Bert yet. I do have some names in mind, but the problem is that I have 4 different clones and they look pretty similar, in fact I kind of lost track of which one is which! ;-) They all look great with the sun shining through them, though. Did you notice that the pattern is the reverse on the underside as it is on the upper side of the leaf? The light colored portion on one side almost perfectly corresponds with the dark colored portion on the other side, but there's a little translucent margin around each dark blotch. I think this not only acts as camouflage for these types of plants in the forest canopy, but I read it is also a way of trapping what light there is inside the leaf for photosynthesis. I'm not sure exactly how this works, but it is fascinating to look at, like a puzzle.

Don't have excema, but do have the driest hair I've ever seen (borderline thyroid-related) Will have to try the almond oil. My older sister had the worst excema when she was a kid. Her nightie was stuck to her neck every morning and mom had to painfully soak it off. She had it on her head and arms and legs too. She seemed to grow out of it or something as an adult, although she can't use any scented products of any kind. Makeups are tricky for her too. Lucky for her, she doesn't need a lot of make-up yet even at 54 years old.

I don't know what kind of gold is on frames, some is gold leaf on the ones that are fancy cornered with scrolls, roses etc. You can tell them as they look like plaster or Plaster of Paris where the gold is rubbed off. You would want to replace that(after any repairs) library would have info on that, it may have changed since I last did 1. There is some gold rub stuff but it would not look the same. Lots of gold paints out there but few that look nice & do pic justice. Maybe someone else can help. I've used Windex on cheaper frames to get smoke, dirt off & then just tighten up & undercoat with spray & finish with spray or else I use a sponge brush for both & if it is "busy" wood I use a bristle brush to get into the grooves, scrolls etc.(Antique frames I try to restore to what I think they looked like originally) Jan
