What's your favorite brand of purse?

Do you have a favorite purse brand, or style? Just curious what everyone likes. I usually like a hobo style and I'm in the market for a new one but, DD keeps pushing Coach, and while I like a good quality bag, I just don't care for that big "C". What do you all like?

I loved the old Coach bags that didn't have the "C" all over them and were just nice leather purses. I agree about the new ones...just not my taste.

I generally like a good quality leather purse. The brand doesn't really matter to me. I like different sizes and colors for different occasions.

I have a Fossil leather hobo that I love, and it wasn't enormously expensive!!

I have a dimmable ballast, but Im not using the dimming options. Does that still shorten the life? I ended up buying a digilux bulb. I did look at hortilux, and they were definitely expensive. All I could find with Ushio were conversion bulbs for HPS ballasts, or something like that. I didnt know if they would work with mine, which is an ipower ballast. After 7 days with the new bulb, Im impressed by it. Very bright, great spectrum, and the plants are responding very well to it.

I use all big 4, Neu Mode, and New Look (favorite blouse pattern) without a problem. I used one Burda without knowing the seam allowances were not included, I now know. I would like to know what difficulties you are having including pattern brand and number. Construction methods haven't changed that much...do the method you feel most comfortable using/taught before your sewing "vacation". Technology has changed some things so you may want to loan a book from the library and start reading to refresh your memory. Most of all, take your time, relax and enjoy sewing. Some shortcuts in today's pattern directions aren't shortcuts in the long run because they take longer to do and machine stitching everything sometimes does not look the best. Example: I do my zippers according to package directions and the way I was originally taught to do them without a problem...I have a problem if I don't machine baste the seam first and press, press, press before, during and after. I still hand sew the last stage of waistbands because it isn't as stiff as sewing in the ditch is with a bit more elasticity when you need it.

thanks, thanks a lot :) I am now going to look on ebay. I have found my perfect purse, wallet and laptop/work bag (backpack). They are coach. I carried them for about 10 years in brown (mahogany). since I used them daily they were kind of beat up by then and I decided I wanted to start using black. I found the exact bags, all three, in black, gently used, on ebay. it took some searching but I love them still. I think I need a back up though and as time goes on I am sure it will be harder to find. I need to set up my searches on ebay again!

DIY Kitchen Cabinets - what's your favorite budget brand?

FWIW we did our own kitchen remodel and used Ikea (Side Note: They do ship and the price can be reasonable depending on where you live!). We didn't want to spend a lot and we only needed to purchase 3 base, and 1 wall cabinets. I was weary of the quality but we are very handy and took steps to further strengthen and reinforce them, especially when building our custom island with them! The two biggest things we did to strengthen them was we (#1) constructed our own cabinet feet out of lumber and (#2) reinforced the back wall of the cabinet (it comes with thin/flimsy MDF type material) with thin plywood (we did this for the island only because the back side would be exposed, so we used cheap plywood to backfill the gap and then nice plywood for the finish). My 2 favorite cabinets from them is the 36" wide (two huge drawers!) where I keep all of my pots and pans, and more! I currently have several stainless pots and pans, a large heavy copper sauce pot, and a cast iron wok in the top drawer and in the bottom drawer I have a set of 3 pampered chef rectangle stoneware baking dishes, 3 Ikea ceramic baking dishes, and a couple more big stainless soup pots, plus all the lids to my pots and pans. I may be pushing its limits but after two years I'm still really happy with them. I may eventually reinforce the floor of these because I do have a LOT of weight on them and they're really long drawers. I also love the wall cabinet that actually sits on top of the counters. It has two glass doors where we keep glassware and plates, and two skinny/long drawers on the bottom where we keep our silverware. It gives a custom feel without the custom price. Really neat piece and everyone comments on it! Having said all of that, we know this isn't our "forever" home. We don't have kids, and take care of our things. Within the next 3-5 years we are looking to (potentially) build a custom home that will hopefully be our forever home (if not, at least long term) and we will not be using Ikea. Simply because I'm not sure how they'll hold up over time. I've only heard at how some renters can really trash a place so I'd be really weary of Ikea for your situation. Maaaaaybe consider it only if you're willing to do some extra work to reinforce their weak points. But even then, after watching my two brothers grow up, I'm not sure Ikea would've survived in my parent's house. I'm a bargain shopper, and you'd be surprised what comes up for sale on Craigslist and Facebook marketplace. Also (if you have the time) check out your local Habitat for Humanity ReStore (and the like). We used to live in a high cost of living area and we'd always find high quality antique furniture, grand fireplace surrounds, marble tops, and yes, nice cabinets! Of course it's always timing game. Have to be in the right place at the right time, but it might just be worth a call or a stop. If I were going to have a rental I'd probably start by looking at these places first.

Stone Mountain isn't too bad. I've never had a Fossil bag, but they look nice. I tend not to change purses, so I don't have a lot. Just wear one out and get a new one. Seems like I always forget something when I change bags.

Coach bags. I have two. Love em both-one black, one brown, good strong leather, with shoulder straps.

I like Stone Mountain. I'm short and most shoulder bag straps are too long for me, but SM makes an assortment of hobos and other styles with straps that are long enough to sling over my shoulder but don't hit me below the hips!

I personally favor the Coach leather bags without the "C" print. They have these nice large silver buckles on their bags that add a lot of playfulness and class. I do have to admit that I also like my colorful Murakami Louis Vuitton bag also. ;P

I've recently bought 2 Kathy Van Zeeland purses, I can't remember the name of the first, but the second one is called Angel Dust Hinge Satchel. It holds a lot, but looks chic. I also love that it has 2 outer pockets. I bought it on Ebay, because they run about $75 and up for the Kathy Van Zeeland brand.

Cole Haan. If they do have a logo or label on the outside, it is discreet. I hate the new Coach bags because of all of the logos and the large buckles (makes them too heavy), and I used to be a fan.

I love the coach purses! I have the cross body bag , the wristlet both signature, and a large leather brown with the chunky brass hardware. Love them all!

I think Brighton has the best hobo bag I have found called the Barcelona Bag. It has a braided shoulder strap and it's just so pleasant to carry. I'm very picky and this one works well for me.

Coach!

I have three, and only one has the Cs all over, but it is black on black (it's made of fabric) so they're not really noticeable unless you're right up on top of the bag. It was my first Coach. It's five years old, looks brand new, and I still get compliments on it.

I have a cream-colored leather, satchel-type one that's probably three or four years old. It is without Cs all over it.

Lastly, I have a small leather orange-ish colored one that is without Cs all over it.

I'm not particularly "into" purses -- usually switch twice during the year -- one for summer and one for winter. I prefer quality over quantity, and I don't mind spending more for quality although I'm not so foolish as to pay retail -- all three of those purses, I bought on sale!

I love bags a lot. Especially leather bags.
And i think Baggit is the best brand of bags. This brand has a huge collection of leather bags.

I second Cole Haan. Great quality and discreet branding. Nothing says, "look at me!" like a bag with a ton of logos on it.

Update to my earlier post.

I just added Coach's Madison Small Kelsey Satchel in Scarlet to my collection. She is beautiful and perfect -- not too small, not too large, and lightweight!
