I use Moroccan Oil Cream for Curly Hair. I stick my head under the tap and wrap it in a towel. I do not comb it. After a bit I apply a couple of pumps of the Curly Cream and just scrunch it with my fingers. I am hair dryer/diffuser challenged and have very thick hair. This product is hard to find in Toronto - the Moroccan oil itself is much easier to locate. The Curly Cream sells fast. Not cheap and only sold in beauty salons and certain beauty supply stores (the type you have in the U.S.) - but I expect price is better in U.S.. If you find it in a drug store it will most likely be fake. The colour is very pale apricot - that saved me once - the cream was white - a knock-off being sold by a hair dresser. My natural auburn hair turned iron grey in my mid 20s and with my pale but yellow-based complexion I do not suit grey - or any other colour (I tried on wigs). So I have single-processed my hair a medium auburn ever since (now 61) - avoiding mahogany or purplish shades like the plague since I don't suit them. For some reason this particular product works very well with the auburn hair colour. It is the devil to use though - it is in a pump - if ever a product should be in a jar, this is one of them.

My hair has gotten dry and looks and feels like straw when I get up in the morning and I thought it had gotten thin. Not a pretty sight! Because of all the health problems I've dealt with this past year, I haven't had the time or ambition to do anything about it. Until this week. I made an appointment for a perm and asked if meds could have any thing to do with that. She said absolutely. (I had made a note to ask my doctor when I see him again in January.) I'm taking a blood pressure pill, a blood thinner, and the hormone pill, all new to me. I was wrong about the thinning; she remarked as she was cutting my hair that it is definitely not thin, but still very thick! Yay! She gave me a good haircut so I still have some fullness, and a soft perm, It looks good, but of course I can never make it look that good. I'm going to try the coconut oil and see if that helps. Thank you all for your helpful comments. I looked online yesterday at several and planned a trip to Ulta after a meeting at a location nearby yesterday afternoon. I was all set to purchase a Conair, but wanted to try out several at Ulta. They still have their set-up where you can turn them on and feel the heat and speed. I probably increased the store temperature in that corner by 10 degrees trying out several at a time. I ended up with one made by Hot Tools, the Hot Tools Professional, for $42.99. I switched from the Conair after talking with someone and looking, feeling and testing. It was only a few dollars more and I had a $3.50 coupon, so the price wasn't really a deal breaker. The placard said it was good for fine hair, it has 3 heat settings and 2 speeds and a cool shot button, which I used a lot on my Chi. So did the Conair. The main difference was the weight and it seemed quieter. It is very light. Used it this morning and am happy. Funny, but my hair didn't seem to have those little frizzies around my part that I sometimes notice, even after getting out in the humid air. I asked the sales person about the brand and she said they get very few returns of that brand and if I wasn't happy after a few days I could return it. I did ask what brand seemed to be returned the most and guess what? It was Chi. I have to say, mine lasted at least 7 years. I took my old Chi to the lake and bought this one which is used every day, so I really can't complain.

I was at Ulta last week, not my favorite place to shop, looking something for my hair. I have color treated, fine hair but lots of it. I never use conditioner, a detangler or even shampoo with a conditioner. I stay away from any extra products, they make my hair flat and feel dirty the next day. I asked one of the hairdresser for a suggestion and she recommended Beach Envy volumizer by Redken. it was pricey but she said I could come in and swap it out if I didn't like it. I will say it is the best thing I have ever tried on my hair! Its almost like a gel that you apply after shampooing, work through and then rinse out. My hair is full, the slight curl, I wear it in a longish bob, stays in for at least 3 days and it does not feel dirty, it actually feels good. I like my hair to look healthy and have movement (says my hairdresser) and it does. BTW the gal from Ulta said if I didn't like that product that Fashion waves 07 that lukki suggested was very good too, she actually didn't know which one to recommend to me. I finally have a product that works for me!!! It will probably be discontinued tomorrow LOL.
