I'm staying. My membership expires in July and I'll renew every year, until this forum no longer exists (which I hope doesn't happen).

$15 a year is an awesome deal because these forums are great!

Thanks to all for your very nice comments, We love to share our birds... it adds to our joy of them when others enjoy them also. :) jannd and glenda - We shoot with Canon S3 and S5 cameras to which we often attach a Sony 1.7x Teleconverter: These Canon models are both superceded now, but can still be found on ebay etc. We've been pleased to make some nice pictures with them, but there are many similar (and superior) cameras available from various manufacturers. I think it matters much more that the user becomes comfortable enuf with the camera's controls to be able to respond quickly when the shot presents. We shoot in Manual mode and adjust settings for each shot or series. There are just too many variables of light, and distance, and composition from shot to shot, so we can't recommend any specific setting. Generally tho: We keep the ISO setting as low as possible (to minimize noise). We use Spot metering as a guide to set our exposures to -1/3 at the brightest part of the bird. (to avoid blowing whites). We shoot in High Continuous burst mode (a very modest 2+ frames/sec on our cameras)... and usually capture several or as many frames as possible while the birds are in our viewfinder. You never know when that one lovely pose may be offered. :) Otherwise, our best advice is... Spend as much time with your birds as you can, and take a LOT of pictures of them. Getting close is paramount, and they do become accustomed to your presence after awhile. Don't be afraid to experiment, and try to understand what settings and circumstances caused the blurry, dark, blown, and out-of-focus shots you get. Learning to use your camera takes practice, and nothing will improve your photos more. Hope this is helpful. Happy birding all, Kenn

I know most people here use butter when they bake but.... I make some of the best chocolate chip cookies on the planet and I always use Land O Lakes margarine. It is a little more expensive but worth it. The flavor, texture and appearance of my cookies are close to perfect. For things like toast we use I Can't Believe It's Not Butter Light (DH has high cholesterol and we don't need the calories). PS: I use the Betty Crocker recipe that calls for only one egg (not two) and no electric mixer! Much better texture if you mix by hand.

I just re-upped a few weeks ago. The board doesn't move as fast as it used to but there is still a lot of good info being shared. I'll probably stay too.

I'll definitely renew when it's time. I can get great advice on everything from plumbing to decorating to computer help. It has already paid for itself with the money it has saved me over the past year.

I'm new to this forum, usually go to the knitting and crocheting and in the spring I hang around the Bird forum. I have also got a lot of help off of the computer forum, and just recently have been getting some useful tips from here. I just re-upped my membership a couple of days ago. These forums are the greatest and a lot of help. I hope they never take them off here.

I'll be renewing as soon as I can remember to bring my plastic with me to the computer! I'm with Sunny--the money I've saved by using the computer help forum alone is worth the $25 (I'm in Canada)! Plus, visiting the other forums and all you great people is fun, too!

I paid for the first time just two days after I found this site! The cross-stitching forum is free, but the menopause one isn't. The info available is well worth the money. I enjoy reading all of the posts, especially the flames! I wonder if it's the same person that starts something at each of the forums!?? I love it;better than cable and half the cost.

I dont think I'll be staying. I do like this forum but it is the only one I use. Plus Im moving away from home and my $ will probly get tight, and sticking around most likely wont help that Im breaking my habit of spending wildly on beauty products. Plus, Ive been at this forum two years and I dont think theres as much input and discussion as before this forum became a pay site. It has been nice meeting you all, though. Ill continue to stick around until I cant post anymore, and ill probly check in to read posts once in awhile.
