I have never even had a second pair of glasses. After going through 4 months of cataract removal and healing I treated my self to an extra pair, my reg glass frames are like my old one and I bought small red plastic for fun and I love them. I may even buy a purple pair when I go back for a check up. Lots of fun.

The good news: the small boutique eyeglass place was happy to make a temporary fix to my glasses (where the mall places were unwilling!). This bought me some time.. the bad news: I need the extra time because the frames Ichose aren't going to work for me. They don't fit on my narrow bridge well.. which makes them sit very low on my face. They are already a very large frame and they just didnt look right. Also, I intentionally wore colors other than black when I tried them on this time because I was wearing all black when I previously tried them on. I was not as enamored with black when I wasn't wearing it. I am somewhat back at square one. I did find two frames I liked on but both had something working against it. Tiffany glasses really seemed to fit me well. Quite a few styles look nice on but they were all styles with a tiffany blue stem. I am not sure how I feel about the tiffany blue-- I do like the color but I am not sure I will like them in a professional setting.. and I am concerned they are too young. I DO love the havana tortoise which is very dark and not all that busy. Unfortunately, the store didnt have many styles that use the havana on the stem as well as the eye pieces. Next weekend I am going to take a sister and niece with me to look at them again. I am starting to consider getting two pairs. The styles I am looking at are much less expensive than some of the other offerings.. and considering I am in a bad place when one breaks, it seems smart to have a backup. Here's a Tiffany style I am liked.. what do you think? Do the T blue stems look too young?

Thank you all. Tina, the first pair is a solid yes-- as are the sunglasses. I still need a second pair. As for buying online-- all I am considering buying online are the frames. Frames I have already chosen locally. It's not any different from trying them on and ordering from a local shop-- except the money doesn't stay local. They are new, in original packaging etc and can be returned. That said, my glasses are ALWAYS sent out for the lenses. My lenses must be specially ground. Still, I order them through the dr office where they take the proper measurements and make the necessary adjustments. smh - yes, you and my nieces! The black glasses above aren't even in the running-- but it was the best photo showing a black frame. There are others that look better.. but I went with the one that showed the color best. 1929 - excellent point! I will start with one pair first-- just because the prescription is tricky. The Dr wanted me to start with one pair.. wait a few weeks to a month and then get the others. Annie, yes your points are all valid.. but shape isn't really a decision I am struggling with. I have had lots of input and help in choosing the frame shape. I've also been wearing glasses for as long as I can remember. Don't worry that I'll go all rogue LOL! While my style can be a touch quirky, it's basically classic with a little funk... never the other way around. Neetsie - There is a model with tortoise shell cat eye but the stems are blue. Too much like the first pair which I am definitely ordering... and they don't have them in the store. I tried them on in the spring but they sold out. The black has black stems and a tiffany blue inside the frame. Much easier to distinguish. I guess I should have shared that since I will be switching from computer/reading glasses to walking around glasses-- even to just go to the bathroom, I want them to be different and distinguishable. Even meetings will be a challenge as I will need one pair to read.. and another to see someone across the table. I am hoping I can adapt to that well enough to not need to constantly switch back and forth and distract others. I guess some would prefer the two to look similar so it wasn't obvious they were wearing two pairs glasses. I guess I can mull that around. practigal - my mom says the same thing about Costco. I haven't tried them as they are no longer convenient to me. I can always check to see if they carry the brands that have been consistently working well for me. Thank you ALL again! I’m having surgery to remove a cataract and correct an astigmatism in one eye. Glasses will be Just for reading....bifocals with reader on the bottom and almost clear above. I had hoped to not need glasses for reading, but that won’t work in my case. Oh well, glasses will hide circles when needed! I could continue with my cheap readers, but might be nice to have a perfect lens for close-up. Sunglasses are a constant here in sunny Ca. ; I loved my old pair of bifocals for driving and reading menus outside dining, etc. Glasses will be nice at times when I‘d need to grab readers.....reading price tags shopping, for example, or text messages. Wow! That was way TMI! All I mostly wanted was your source for frames, so thank you all . Also, good to be assured It is usual and not rude to have the optometrist use another’s frames. Must be, as Annie does this. Oh, and like her, I had issues with Costco lens. Nice to know I can buy just the frames there. You have all been a big help...thank you!!
