Favorite facial moisturer's for the over 50 set?

I'm 51 and still have a bit of an oily forehead/t-zone though its less than before. And I noticed that in the last few years my forehead has also gotten red. My neck has gotten awful after years of neglect.

I'm looking for a night time cream and a daytime one. Daytime I currently use a Loreal one I like (Neutrogena felt too greasy) but the spf stuff tends to melt after about 8 hours and get in my eyes making them sting. I don't like anything that feels greasy.

Any favorites out there?

I like Oil of Olay with SPF 15. It does not feel greasy.

I like Oil of Olay for sensitive skin. It doesn't stink like regular Oil of Olay.

I stopped tonight to get a "Coney dog" at the local "Coney and Swirl" which is the ice-cream/hotdog stand in my small town, very typical of what was in almost every small town in Michigan at one time. Anyway, while "suckin' on a chili dog outside the Tastee Freeze," I was reflecting on what someone told me once (from NY) that Michigan hot dogs were better than most other states because we had higher standards about what kind of meat could go into them. Not sure about the truth of that story though. When I got home, while googling "Michigan hot dogs" to find out more, I discovered this funny article from the Smithsonian magazine called, "The Annals of Geographically Confused Foods" lol! Apparently "coneys" in NY are called "michigans!" That really cracked me up! In my adopted hometown of Allentown, PA, apparently Mr. Yocco "invented" the chili dog too, and made it world famous to boot. ;) To me, a chili dog is just a chili dog, and little stands with root beer or ice cream and hotdogs do mean summer in Michigan, although for me coming home to MI will always mean, "let's have a lake fish fry!" There are three things I miss when I am away from my home state, one is all the fresh fruit, (but then my ancestors settled in an area just north of "Fruitport" Michigan), maple syrup and lake fish, either pan fish from the inland lakes or Great Lakes fish. I do miss walking down to the diary queen or root beer stand with my best friend and spending my allowance on some kind of junk food, but that kind of pleasure isn't quite what it used to me for me now. What can I say but, "Life goes on, long after the thrill of livin' is gone." I'm 74 and have been exercising 3 times weekly now for 11 years. I really concentrate on my legs as they need to work for me when my poor old damaged lungs can't. I could still wear shorts in the summer until about 5 years ago when gravity finally got my knees. It was inevitable. I have very strong muscles in my legs but it's the skin, not the muscles. Yes, I have been a sun worshiper for many years. It doesn't help my skin but tanned saggy skin looks SO much better when it's tanned. At 60, you don't yet have the old bruised, scared legs that will appear over the next 10 years. Out skin on our calves thins and a small bump can result in a deep cut. My lower legs look like someone has been beating them with a stick! But when they're tan, they look much better and the scars and bruises don't show as much. It is very hard to age when one is vain. One must do the best one can and accept the rest with humility.

The staples and remaining stitches (some have already fallen out) will be removed tomorrow. I'll ask about makeup then. I went ahead and followed the suggestions above and ordered a slip on scarf cap to cover my forehead. The bruising under my eyes is a lot better tonight. The party is out of town next Saturday. I'm not sure about getting a pro to apply my makeup, I usually go very minimal with makeup and pros seem to want to make me look like someone that I don't recognize :-) I did get a couple of good concealers for the facial/undereye bruising. I had taken the dogs out for their 'last call' potties late last Monday evening and was looking the other way when my foot tangled with the patio chair. I grabbed the chair for support and it just flipped over and down I went. Hubby was in the house and would have come looking for me after a while. I was rather dazed after hitting my head, so just stayed on all fours for a bit until I felt safe to stand up and yell for him. I'm an octogenarian and I have never used any face cream either, or even hand lotion. I have used only soap and water all these years. I also use only water-based makeup very lightly applied and then a translucent powder over it. People have offered me some hand lotion from time to time when they have been applying theirs, and if I put any of it on I feel like my hands have gloves on them I just don't like the feeling. Thankfully my life has been such that I I have never had to take care of my hands due to rough work. My skin is not dry and I have been told it is very nice for my age. Just think of all the money I saved by just using soap and water! As a side note, when I was a teenager I noticed that my skin was oily and I was beginning to see blackheads here and there. There was never a female in the family to teach me how to do the girly things so my treatment for my skin then consisted of washing once or twice a day with brown laundry soap. I did this for about a week, as I remember, and it seemed to really work so I stopped and return to using Ivory soap which was the only soap used in the house, and have never had a problem since.

I don't know about for over 50, but Dermalogica is great for oily complexions.

I'm over 50 and love Dr. Denese products. She can be found on QVC. I'm not crazy about the eye cream but the moisturizer is great and the sunscreen she has is the only product that I've used so far that truly keeps my face from tanning or burning.

Cetaphil moisturizing lotion was recommended by my dermatologist -- it works well for me, especially on my neck, and does not irritate my eyes.

I use Cetaphil cleanser, an oil-free product, to remove makeup. It can also be used as a moisturizer for oily skin, so that could work on your forehead.

These are both hypo-allergenic and sold at drugstores, Costco, etc.

For added sun protection on my face I like the sunscreens made for children, but even then I keep them away from my eyes.

I am 52, I love Victoria Principle Products, they are a little pricey but you can join the "club" and save a lot. There a few facial lotions, they don't really feel greasy yet do make my face shiny which I simply wipe off. Her lotions really soak into the skin making a huge difference in how your face feels. I do not have extra money to spend on luxuries, I consider this a necessity! It also helps ease the wrinkles.

I bought some Beyond Belief ABH Intensive Repair Serum from Sally Beauty Supply. It's wonderful! My skin is soft, smooth, not greasy feeling, the rashiness and flakes I had around my mouth and nose area - gone. I'm going to try some of the other products in the line. It's also decently priced at about 8.00.

I'm 52 and have struggled with breakouts and clogged pores forever. This product seems to keep that under control, too. I've been using it about a week and can really tell a difference.

I have been liking the ROC line. Really like the night time that comes in a jar with a red lid. Lasts a long time.
