Farouk CHI Flat Iron?

I currently have a 1-inch ceramic flat iron, but for my thick coarse hair I think I need a 2-inch one. Does anyone have the Farouk flat iron? It's rather expensive (around $120) but I was wondering if it is better than any other 2-inch ceramic iron.

Ramrice, I was wondering the same thing - thinking of going to a stylist and getting straightened with one before I shell out the small fortune for one of my own. I hate how much money it costs for me to be able to walk out the front door without my hair scaring people! Lol

I think seperate units are the way to go IMO. I have yet to find one that does a great job both ways. For a flat iron GHD is hands down the best one out there. Curling irons I don't use often enough to give an opinion. Enzo makes a nice one. Both of these are investments though that will last you years. I bought both of mine off folica online. Be sure you get coupon codes though. My hair is naturally curly and pretty difficult to straighten and the GHD makes it pin straight all day. I cannot say enough good things about it. I ad a CHI and a Solaria before it, both lasted less than a year. I am on 3 years with this bad boy and it is still ticking.

My Chi arrived yesterday so I had an opportunity to use it on my hair before coming to work this morning. I love it! It's so easy to use! It seems to glide down the hairshaft much more smoothly than my old flatiron did and quickly and easily takes out the residual "bend" from my hair that I'm usually left with after blowdrying. I haven't yet invested in thermal protectant, but I'll pick some up at Ulta or Sephora this weekend. I also haven't yet mastered the skill of using the Chi on my bangs (which are long and sideswept) -- it makes them a little too sticky-outy for my liking, but I would imagine there are some flick of the wrist tricks I can practice using when I have more time. I've heard of the straightening process you mentioned, Ann, and will admit I'm intrigued! But since I like to sometimes wear my hair curly/wavy I think I'll just stick to flatironing for now. I hope your daughter loves her hair after having it done! :-)

How about a total house makeover? The kitchen needs updating; all my paint colors are just a bit short of "spot on"; I yearn for the furniture pieces I should have gotten if I could've looked into the crystal ball and seen the 4-legged furball that would soon come into my life and leave hair all over; the patio needs fresh bricks or pavers and can't-kill plants ... And I'm sure it wouldn't be too much to ask if a really talented designer who "speaks" my language -- casual contemporary -- and his/her "staff" came in and did everything while I went on vacation! (I hate thinking about what it's like to live with this going on -- even having to be here when the handyman was changing out bathroom fixtures was a hassle and a boring waste of time for me!) In lieu of all that "all at once," I guess I'd really want something money CAN'T buy: Total satisfaction with what I have. Well, maybe when I get the patio redone ... that's next on the list unless my homeowners' association finds something else I need to take care of first! (PS: Can I pls borrow the pool boy? please please please? I have no pool, but I can find some other tasks around the house to keep him busy -- like making me some mojitos and cleaning the fridge and stove once in a while!)

A curling wand basically just changes the shape of the curls. It gives a different look. It's usually used to create a more casual, messy look. As to which ones, I would pick something mid range on the price spectrum honestly. Go by reviews. I've owned quite a bit of high and mid to low end hair gadgets and I feel name is a lot of what you pay for. I've bought expensive equipment in the past thinking it would last forever. Wrong! You can get something mid range that works just as well. My CHI flat iron took a puke the other day (same day I got my new cut) and I'll be buying a different brand while out today. The Chi is the best that I've found, also the HAI. Pretty much the same quality, but the HAI is a few dollars cheaper. Check on line to get the best price. I wouldn't get the 2 inch plate, though. I don't know why, but the 1 inch one just works so much better, even on long thick hair. My clients are always amazed how straight I can get their hair with the Chi.

Just bought the Chi and love it - The cheaper one I use to have burned bits of my hair, this one seems to be so much kinder - Personally, I think it is worth the money

I did end up buying the 2 inch Chi (for about $90), and it is much better than the 1 inch flat iron I had. I use it once or twice a week when my hair looks too frizzy and it doesn't seem to do any damage.

While chi is a good one GHD is far better, i have one and can flat iron any type of hair!!!! Plus the plates rotate and swivel so you can also curl your hair too. They run about 200.00 however they come with a one year warrenty, If the temp goes above or below 374 it will turn it self off! That is cause 374 is the best temp for hair anything else is either too hot or not hot enough.
