I am 55 and do have rosacea (Irish ancentry - curst of the Celts) but am unable to use meds or topical treatment. Also have very thin skin so no hydrocortisone. What would help is to know your skin type and what products you are currently using and if you have any allergies or sensitivities to certain ingredients (e.g. I have a serious problem with many botanicals/algae, suffer from ragweed and to top it off, am allergic to anti-histamine). I have also been diagnosed by top derm as "having extreme sensitivities to products formulated for sensitive skins". Hormonal changes could also be contributing to the red blotches. I am unable to use any form of acids/retinols/Vitamin C on my face. Said use would result in serious irritation and red blotches not to mention cause my desert like dry and dehydrated skin to become every drier if that is possible. That said, I have worked out a plan and all in all my very thin, VPPP, dry, dehydrated, 55 year old skin does not look too bad. Also would be helpful to know if you eat a lot of spicy food, spend time in saunas or steam rooms etc. And, if so, are blotches worse are doing so. Heck are you wearing a moisturizer with a combined sunscreen - that alone would do it for me - everything has to be stand alone. Think of any other triggers. Also type of detergent you use can cause a problem - rash from your pillow. So many things to consider. Will check back.

You might try make up for scar cover up, it also works for other imperfections and is supposed to be more durable. I googled scar cover up and found several. Here is one link.

I also did think of Dermablend, but totally lack the skill to get the texture right. A makeup artist I know in Toronto is marvellous with it. She warms the product in her hand first and depending on the area to be covered, mixes in a bit of moisturizer. But the key is getting the best coverage by "working" the Dermablend. Guess the same thing as making pie crust - the right touch. But I still think that internal/external influences should be ruled out first. Even something as unlikely as a vitamin that you should not be taking.

A makeup artist on another board I frequent has been recommending CoverFX instead of Dermablend. She uses it to cover model's tattoos and claims it blows DB out of the water. There are many shades, so it's best to visit a counter and get a match in person. Good luck.
