Is there anyone here that has never plucked/waxed they're eyebrows -- ever? I am 52 and have never had the "pleasure" of doing this little beauty routine. I can't believe that I am the only one?????

Pleasure isn't the word I would use. DD has been having a fit since I use my leg razor to shape my eyebrows. LOL

Actually bought my first pair of eyebrow tweezers last week. I am 45 yrs. young. We'll see how it goes.

I am not high maintenance, but enjoy having a nice appearance.

I would think that if you have lived 45 years without plucking/tweezing your eyebrows, why start now?

HKO HKO - this is my... 3rd or 4th post on this website. I didn't realize this website was manned by 'retired professionals donating their time to help the poor surfs building in the lower class sectors'. I had no idea the same 5 'retired' architects and designers would reply multiple times with insults about features of a house I'm building that I never asked advice for to begin with. I do NOT share their obsession with windows. I politely stated that on their first round of comments. And hey, I get it. I get on forums to help in my profession (web development). I certainly don't get on there offering to help someone get a script running and then totally rip apart the look of their website. Kind of goes back to "if you don't have anything nice to say...", eh? This post, for example, was about fishing for options for the cantilever. Not being a builder and trying to Google it is what did lead me to the term "EYEBROW PERGOLA" when really what I was reaching for was corbels or brackets/braces. What would have been nice was "Hey, did you consider dentil blocks if you want something to look at in that area?" When I met with one of the guys from the builder he sympathetically offered that and pointed out examples. Wonder why I'm a bit, ungrateful? I had one of the 'helpful retired professionals' here tell me because my husband and I both WANTED our laundry in the garage that "Any new house that has the laundry in a garage, is a poorly designed house. It’s not responding to what you need. " (Thanks, Sophie Wheeler for knowing what my husband and I need, without even meeting with us! You Rock!) I never asked about the bloody windows. And this post was back in May. Move on.

How do you fill in your eyebrows so they don't look fake?

I use the Clinique brow shaper (like an eyeshadow) with a angled brow brush and spoolie. I need to shape, fill in and make my brows larger, longer than they really are. I use a qtip with a little bit of lotion to clean up or take off anywhere there's too much or I went too high or too low etc. Powder helps tone them down too. (I have black eyebrows) I've used the Clinique brow shaper for 20+ years...I've recently bought a brow pencil by Benefits, it's a thick angled retractable tip, it's a hit n miss, I need more time when I use the pencil...I can get consistently good results with the brow shaper compared to the pencil. I can only compare to this particular pencil, but the powder type stays better for me. The pencil rubs off more easily.

How do you do curtains on a window with an eyebrow?

It's a light issue. Our master bedroom is blacked out due to my husband's job, but he has been ill lately so I have had to sleep in that guest room and I don't sleep well in there! And guests who have slept in there also feel like it's really bright. I figured at least with curtains, guests can close them or open them to meet their own preferences.

This is such an interesting discussion. I have naturally fairly thick dark brows and I'm glad that I was never pressured into the severe plucking that was more fashionable a while ago (maybe 10 years ago?). I never apply any makeup or color to my brows, but I do a slightly angled upward brush on them and then use a finger on top to smooth the top back into a smooth curve. Sometimes if I don't give them a brush, the hairs get a little askew and giving them a quick brush seems to help them have a little more natural arch. I had to google microblading and that sounds very interesting and like an interesting option for those that have lost too much eyebrow and want something that doesn't wash off daily. At the same time, I do think genetically there are different types of eyebrows and many people with naturally light or delicate eyebrows look so lovely just as they are. I think the example @Ida posted is a good one where the woman looks lovely with her "before" natural eyebrows. When I googled microblading, this photo from a makeup line came up. To me this is a good example where the woman's natural delicate coloring and features work well with her natural delicate eyebrows (though they could use a quick brush to lay smooth).

Why start now?

Well, because as one gets older the eyebrows start to SPREAD.

Little stray hairs start growing around the natural eyebrows that you've had for years, and plucking is needed.

This starts happening about the same time that a woman starts to grow her middle-aged mustache, and chin hairs. Women even start to grow noticable ear hair sometimes with middle age.

LMAO - I'm generally referred to as 'young,' but my eyebrows have always had a spreading tendency. In order to have any shape whatsoever, I've been at it since I was 12, I believe.

They grow in mostly reddish blonde, so they have to be tinted most of the time to avoid the Whoopi Goldberg look. I have to pluck them every 3 days or so, and I can honestly say I've found them in what I'm sure is technically zoned as the 'forehead' area.

Lol.... I actually don't grow much in the middle - this one was literally right in the middle, between my right eyebrow and my hairline. I was freaked out for a minute - it really startled me. :D

I have never plucked mine either. I'm 50. My brow hairs are fairly thick (individually) and hard to pluck - hurt waaaayyy to much. Now along with all my other hairs there seems to be some general thinning while some are growing wildly long - so now I trim the length with little scissors - how embarrasing!
Still not to interested in the plucking shaping though. I have fairly "heavy" features - largish nose, thick lips, large eyes, glasses - little tiny eyebrows I think would just look ridiculous.

I think well shaped eyebrows make your face appear younger and more feminine. Marys, a little shaping wouldn't look bad at all, you just don't want to go so thin as some women do, but getting them shaped by a professional might be something to consider.

I would suggest that if you have never tweezed then I'd go to a salon and have a professional do it. A messed up eyebrow tweeze job can look just terrible...I've seen women tweeze them way too far apart in the middle and it looks just horrible, better off natural than a bad tweeze job! If you just will not go to a salon and you've gone all these years without tweezing just pull out the hairs that are way out of place(the strays) and if you have some long wild ones, just cut the wild hair off.
