Comments (18)Funky, from what I've heard and from experience, 4 prongs aren't enough for a "safe' setting. Carole, I also prefer a white metal and went from yellow to white when I upgraded and reset my rings. I also wanted to link to the product I used and love. I have thin fingers, but larger knuckles, so I have major problems wearing rings. If they pass over my knuckles then they are huge on my finger and spin around. I tried some of the balls and other things they use to keep a ring from spinning, but those would make it very painful to get the ring over the knuckle. My jeweler sold Finger Mate and we used it to make my ring. It expands to go over the knuckle and closes up tight on the finger. Great solution for those with arthritis or just funky fingers like mine! They can remake any ring with the special Finger Mate band. I had it done about 7 years ago and the cost for the special band was around $600. I was juts looking at their site because we have moved and I was trying to find a local jeweler who carries the product as I would like to have them clean and check the band after I have worn the ring every day for 7 years ... no problems that I can see, but want to make sure the clasp and hinges are still perfect. Comments (25)What do I think of the actual horse photo? Since the quality of the work cannot be assessed from an online photo, that will not enter into it. Perhaps it does for others but for me it won't. The content of the actual photo is disturbing to me as it is a photo of feral horses who live out their days as wild animals and I cannot romanticize that. Anyone who has owned horses, as I have, will know that horses often require care and intervention for problems. These wild horses do not have that so it's survival of the fittest. Of course this is the same for any wild animals but should not be forgotten. I looked at the photographer's website and saw pics of wild stallions fighting. The results of this are bite or hoof wounds to both animals. Wild mares will foal without assistance and if there are problems there will be suffering and perhaps death for both the mare and the unfortunate foal. These horses are not treated for parasites and while that may not be a large problem in a wild horse population it may cause problems. I know many people do not want to think about such problems as they do not want anything to get in the way of their appreciation of 'art' but I prefer the art on my walls to not depict something I dislike even thinking about as I cannot do anything about it. I have a collection (more than a dozen) of original landscape oil paintings some of which we bought in Europe decades ago and paid less than $1000. for the most expensive. Other paintings I've bought in yard sales for next to nothing. Some of these paintings are amateurish but still have a quality I like. Others are IMO quite well done and likely cost the original purchaser much more than the few dollars I paid. Neither the price nor the artistic 'quality' enters into my appreciation of the art. The fact that someone spent hours or days painting a picture of a scene they enjoyed is more important and I enjoy the fruits of their labor. Art is very personal and I don't think has to cost $12,000. to be valuable. There are many photographers who take pics of horses, if you search and compare prices you will perhaps find something less expensive you will like as much. I like your idea of taking pics of images to spell your last name. That's a very meaningful type of art IMO....See MoreOld Wedding Rings
Comments (25)My DH was never married to BM so no engagement/wedding rings were around. I do remember YEARS ago (probably 6+) I was in DH's office at work and opened a drawer and there was some jewelry---rings, braclets, necklaces. When he and BM had broken up, she'd stuffed everything he'd ever given her into a box and given it all back. There was a beautiful diamond and tanzanite ring, and some diamond studs----several other nice pieces. I wasn't necessarily *bothered* by it but it did make me feel weird. Not sure why. I have to admit, when I've seen pictures of DH with BM and SS as a baby, it makes me feel weird, too. I think it's a) partly because DH was so young (19-25) in the years he was with BM and it's odd for me to see him that way and b) BM is just so awful/cruel/vindictive now that it's tough for me to imagine him actually BEING with her. Fortunately, since they split when SS was 10 months, HE doesn't have any memories of them together. So there aren't pics in his room or anything of his parents together. All the old pictures DH has are in boxes and filing cabinets in our garage, and some are in a photo album, but most of those are of DH alone with SS---in the years after he and BM broke up. Rambling....anyway, at one point, DH asked me if I wanted any of the jewelry. I think the death stare I gave him said it all! I assume he sold the jewelry or something because I've never seen it since and I've never asked. I really don't care. I wasn't married to DD's father, either, nor was I engaged. My ring now was purchased by DH for me---not a family heirloom or anything. If we were to ever divorce, I assume I would keep it, not sure what I'd do with it. I could see hanging onto it and giving it to DD or maybe having the diamonds removed and made into a bracelet for her or something. I don't think it would be weird for your DH to give his old wedding band to his son--like someone else said, his son IS a product of that marriage. I don't think his son would see it as his dad holding onto old romantic feelings or anything. JMO....See MoreBlanco silgranit diamond super single bowl - drains, baskets, flanges
Comments (17)Great comments - I'm now debating whether to install a garbage disposal or not. Thoughts on whether to have a garbage disposal at all??? Pros/Cons? Due to health reasons, I make all my meals from scratch (no processed/boxed foods, etc), & probably spend anywhere from 1-3 hours in the kitchen/day. Right now where I'm renting, I just prep on the kitchen counter throwing everything away in a small shopping bag that is on the counter, then I throw the whole bag (with garbage) into my garbage can....See MoreIna Plassa_travis
