Having received e-mail about this post, will address several of the comments. 1) “Underlining of “found” roses, having an official AEN was not indicated, and could cause some confusion”. (I now realize that in “Word”, the underling of information does not appear when posted on the GW) 2) “Additional data on any “found” roses having an AEN would be helpful”. 3) “The fact, that “found” roses can be exhibited in a show that has a special class for “found” roses”. While they cannot receive ARS awards, are shown strictly for their educational value. (This being one of the main purposes of posting this list. That if a show schedule did have a special class for them, the exhibitor would at least have an idea of what roses are considered “found” roses). With this posting it will move down the line, replaced in the near future with one with more complete detailed information. Any comments or suggestions please use this post. Thanks

wren, This is a plan that has certainly worked before in other situations, I do think that the April 13 deadline is a bit short only because there is a lot of info to collect (advertisers contacts and a basic letter to compose. Just having every one sending it out on their mailing list and posting in local groups would generate a great deal of volume. Let me know if there is something I can do, Cindy

I just got home from taking my son to SFO to fly to Spain for a year of study abroad, and on the way home I stopped in Berkeley to see an old school friend who I have recently reconnected with via Facebook. She and her husband make organic skin care products and it was fascinating to see all the natural ingredients that go into them. They had pots of things bubbling away that will eventually be distilled and incorporated into their products. She sent me home with some products and I will report back on how I like them.

Luckygal, branding has been around for a very long time. For example: Vernon and Irene Castle slapped their names on everything and anything you can imagine and stuff that you can't from candy to cigars, shoes, records etc. This was back in 1912. They were the pair that put ballroom dancing on the map and made it extremely popular. Irene set many fashions trends in her day including the incredibly ugly but very popular stove top hat and was one of the first to bob her hair setting off a new look for hair in the 1920's flapper. They owned nightclubs and dance studios. The Fred Astaire and Ginger Rodgers dancing that we all recall fondly in their old movies was based on Vernon and Irene's innovations in dance. My kids (aged 30 and 26) are not swayed by such nonsense and neither are their friends. I think there has always been (and always will be) people who feel safer purchasing something endorsed by a "name" and others who look for quality, value and style.
