Liquid Soap that leaves you Squeaky Clean?

I have oily, non-sensative skin & I exercise pretty vigorously each morning before I shower. I'd like to use a liquid shower soap but the ones I've tried all have some kind of moisturizer in them which leaves a slick film on my skin & increases the oiliness.

Is there a liquid shower soap that leaves the skin squeaky clean like bar soaps do? I've even considered a dilute solution of dish detergent.

I hate the feeling of moisturizers in soap, too! If you really have tough skin, I would recommend trying Bath and Body Works' "Breathe" (a citrus-scented shower gel). It leaves my skin dry and clean (actually, for me it's too dry, but then again, I have slightly cranky skin). If your skin is a little less tough, I recommend Neutrogena's Relaxing Shower and Bath Gel. It is the only thing I have ever used that leaves my skin at the perfect balance of not too dry but not too moisturized. Hope this helps!

I have the same problem, although I have dry skin.My DH loves Oil of Olay bar soap, and while I admit it does have a nice lather, I hate the feeling of any kind of "residue" on my skin when I get out of the shower. I'd just rather use a lotion for dryness; I get in the shower to get clean. I have actually used the BBW "Breathe" gel and I do like it. It has a nice light fragrance.
The other thing that comes to mind is that I noticed at my SIL's home once that she kept a bottle of antibacterial liquid hand soap in the shower because it's what her young grandson liked; I tried it and was pleasantly surprised that my skin felt clean but not too dry.

I get those shower gloves at the drugstore and use them to exfoliate my skin. They're made of nylon or something, and you just put them on, lather up and scrub away. Also, I have a long-handled natural bristle brush for my back. I like old fashioned lye soap - very gentle. But my favorite is a brand I discovered on a trip to Germany a few years ago - Kappus. It's mild, long-lasting and I can even use it on my face in a pinch. You can get in in this country through various importers. The liquid stuff always seems gunky and leaves a film. Also, I replaced my shower head with a filter that takes out chlorine, arsenic and other gunk from our really awful water. (you can't drink the stuff) Otherwise, it would be like showering in pool water.

:) actually, the only problems I've ever had is finding scents that both DH and I like- honestly, lilac does smell funny on large, burly men- not to mention that it seems to 'spoil' faster on them! Karma Sutra's Clove is our favorite, but it's a once a year treat to buy a bottle, since it's not cheap. Yves Rocher makes some great ones in Green Tea, bamboo, and Cypress (along with rose, honeysuckle, and watermelon) that DH really likes, as well- and you can usually get them for like $3 a bottle.

Jill, I keep a decorative tray of paper handtowels in the guest bath. I have a cloth towel there also, but that's just for dh and I. I think they sell paper hand towels now at Walmart, but online you can buy the most beautiful colors and patterns to match any bath. And as soon as company leaves, almost before they're out the door, I put the cloth towel in the dirty clothes so neither of us uses it. I'm with you, it grosses me out. My DIL does the same now. Cam, I bet it's the perfume in the liquid soap. Most of them are scented so I wonder if you tried scent free it would be okay? I say this because one day my ds (in high school at the time) showe me his hand and they were peeling really bad. Then I saw him sprinkle his cologne in his hands and not washing them afterwards, and we figured out it was the cologne. It was kind of a funny moment. Last year I tried to save money by buying a name brand liquid soap from the grocery store, after using B&BW for so long, and they don't even compare. So I went back to B&BW. With just the two of us, they last quite a while. Except my SIL always begs for a bottle when she comes over. lol

Great thread, thanks all. I too went with the white granite without thinking much on the extra maintenance. I sealed 3 times with the Granite Gold water based sealer (red bottle) as soon as installed, but still manage to get the dark water and now soap stains (Dawn and some other essential oil soaps). I’ve tried the baking soda and nail poilish remover (acetone) twice now, both times letting it sit for 2 days before removing, but still dark spots remain. I will try the wet sponge method next and report back. Also, I started sealing with the 511 Impregnator, solvent based, seems to be holding up better on the water test. Anyone recommend a professional grade sealant or any other helpful tips with this clearly ’high absorbtion’ granite? I have to give the previous poster support, I would not go with granite if I knew sealing it and preventing stains was going to be this much trouble.

Try baby wash. I use it all the time for washing my face. When I go on trips, it's my shampoo and body wash too.

I though of two for you to avoid. Oil of Olay, as mentioned above, always seems to leave a residue (ick!) and so does Aveeno.

A liquid glycerine soap would be better than dish soap. I think the dish soap would be too harsh for you. Pears now makes a body wash which is available at Walgreens. If there is a Trader Joe's near you they also have liquid glycerine soap. Whole Foods or a health food store would also have some such as Dr. Bonner's.

I've used Suave clarifying shampoo as a shower wash. It's inexpensive and works on my hair as well.

I've been using Alpha Hydrox body wash for years. Light fresh scent, no residue. I can't find it in local drug stores these days so I've started buying it online.

Good ole Dial (bodywash) does it for me... I usually have to lather on lotion twice once I get out of the shower, but the slimy feeling of conditioners in my body wash irks me.
