black tie affair

| WoooHooo! I've been invited to a wedding, which will be black tie.
Some friends and I were talking about it. They mentioned trying to stay away from the prom or bridesmaid look. Sounds good to me, except I'm in my 40s and don't really know what to look out for. The last time I went to a function which was this dressy it WAS my prom. Any suggestions? |

| Black tie for women is still pretty flexible. You can wear a floor length gown, a regular long dress, or a cocktail length dress, or even those dressy pants sets that have flowing fabric over the pants. We go to black tie business events sometimes and the choices of dress among the attendees always varies quite a bit. For ideas, take a look at the evening wear section on www.jcpenney.com, and the evening wear and mother of the bride dresses on www.chadwicks.com. Coldwater Creek also has some suitable things for events like this. |
