I recently bought a 100% cashmere sweater - the first one I've owned! I've worn it only 3 times, but I think even after the first time I wore it, little fuzzballs began to form, like under the arms. Is this normal for cashmere? I thought because it was so expensive, cashmere wouldn't do that? I'm very disillusioned!!!

Pilling should be minimal in a good quality garment. There will still be some pilling. Check out this site and scroll down to the pilling info.

Same thing happened to me. Mine is a Calvin Klein cashmere sweater. I was so disappointed.

I agree with patches 123 regarding SW Duration paint. I have used it in several rooms - thinking it was top of the line durable paint. It does not scrub well and when I have touched up marked areas with paint, the touchups are VERY visible. When I asked a SW employee about the problems I was having with it, he said it resists dirt, but once the shield is penetrated, you cannot remove the stain/mark. I don't get it! I do not have any experience with the cashmere paint. I did use SW bath and kitchen paint and I have been very pleased with the results. I used it in the MBA and water marks wipe up quickly without leaving any marks behind. I won't use Duration Home again. One last thing, when I tried to tape off the arch in one room to paint the adjoining room, my blue painter's tape would not adhere enough to the Duration paint to provide a clean paint edge. I ended up painting the edges of five arches with an artist's brush to correct all the bleeding. I recently read the Consumer Reports rating of paints and they scored Kilz paint available at Walmart number one. Lowe's paint scored high as well. Duration paint scored very poorly.

I would recommend the Harmony Eg-Shel finish throughout. The Duration Matte and Cashmere Low Lustre is a higher sheen than most other products and they will not hide wall imperfections. Michael

Cashmere is the worst paint I have every used. I have painted my entire house myself and know my way around a roller/paintbrush/sheens ect...I hired this paint job out as I didn't have time to paint and change my house colors for a 3rd time. The paint job was terrible. The painter came back time and time again. I used the High Gloss Pro series for baseboards and Cashmere for the walls. After going in round with the contractor and him not understanding why there was bubbling, cracking, paint peeling, chipping off super easily(he even primed before paint). We sat down to discuss options. I decided I would give it a go to see what was going on. I sanded my walls where in spots it just chipped off and prepped the area with the help of the contractor. The paint by Sherwin Williams looks and covers terrible. Needless to say. The contractor kept his money and I am now left with starting from square one. Next time Ill be using Dunn Edwards or good ole fashion Home depot paint.

ProMar200 Zero is decent paint. I painted my house with the Eggshell (supposed to be Satin?) sheen over Level 5 smooth walls and love the look. This was a remodeled house with all new gypsum board. I have little kids that literally bounce off the walls and the paint is holding up well and touches up very well. The walls have seen dirty little fingers, pencil marks, a bit of blood from nosebleeds, impacts from flying toys,... you name it. It is certainly not top-of-the-line, of course. Cashmere is better quality than ProMar. I would personally do low lustre or pearl everywhere, but that's only assuming your drywaller leaves a perfect substrate. I'm not a fan of "flat" walls. Some SW products have less sheen than stated, but Cashmere is actually higher in sheen. Paint a 2'x2' sample on your wall before committing to a sheen. Good luck.

Dear Impatient Gardener and Shaun,
That is frustrating and I just had to offer some advice... I'm lucky enough to own loads of cashmere and have, through trial and error, worked out the best way to wash it. Always handwash in tepid (or even cold) water. Never dry clean (unless with a specialist cashmere cleaners). I've also found it's best to use a cashmere wash and recommend the one I've added a link to below from Pure Collection. For the bobbly areas you could try a Cashmere comb (there's one on the Pure Collection website). Hope this helps! Once you follow these simple guidelines you can't go wrong! I've had most of my jumpers years and they still look brand new despite loads of wear (especially in the early evening while sitting in my garden!).

.... just realised you said it bobbled after wearing only once! This definitely isn't normal. I wonder if the garment you bought really is real cashmere? it doesn't sound like it because real cashmere definitely shouldn't pill. Many of the high street shops sell jumpers advertised as 100% cashmere but they're not! Be very wary and only choose cashmere from specialist cashmere companies - that's my advice for what it's worth. Good luck!

I once also owned a very expensive white cashmere sweater from I. Magnum (don't even think that this company exists anymore). Anyway, It was a biotch to have it dry cleaned all the time; however I did.

Then, I moved to the Philippines, where I did absoutely NOTHING all day, except lunch, read and swim -- major BORING. My two maids did everything - from yard work to cleaning the pool and everything in-between.

Then after returning from a trip to New York in January, where I wore that sweater constantly, they unpacked for me, and did my wash -- They washed my beloved cashmere sweater in hot water with a large (approximately 8" long bar of laundry soap) that they always used.

OMG, they were so embarrassed to show me what had happened to it. It had skrunk so much, it would have fit a 1 year old. I wasn't mad, just incredibly shocked -- it was sooo tiny.
