Considering buying.. but man do i see a lot of negative comments when i search "will never buy Kenmore again" Their electric version was starting fires for some people?? Control panel issues.. oven turning on by itself? hmmm. May go with GE.. we don't have much choice in bisque unfort... has to be bisque to match rest of appl.

I believe either Charbroil or Charmglow make grills for Sears, not sure which. Neither of these brands have performed very well nor have their durability records been anything to brag about. I looked at the Sears models in the spring and decided against them when I found out the manufacturer. A good grill, like Weber or Napoleon or Vermont Castings, can cost you from $600.00 to at least $1,200.00. It will depend on how much you want to spend and how big a grill you want or need. Stainless steel grills are much easier to clean. We put ours in the oven on the self-clean setting. They come out spotless every time. I have a Stainless Steel Napoleon PT450RB-I. The "I" stands for Infared. Mine has an infared burner that is great for steaks and burgers. It also came with a electric spit for cooking chickens, roast and etc. I believe the price was $1,200.00 delivered and set up/ with weather cover. The grill was a Father's Day gift. Napoleon is made in Canada and it is sometimes referred to as the Weber of Canada. I have been exceptional pleased with this grill. It is well built and very sturdy. It has the high quality stainless steel, not the cheap stuff. It replaced a 15 year old Ducane which gave us fantastic service. One of our sons now has the Ducane and it continues to perform very well. Other brands to look at are Ducane, now owned by Weber, and Vermont Castings. Enjoy the journey. eal51 in western CT

We went to a couple of barbeque places today and ending up buying the extra large Big Green Egg, and I think we will be very happy with it. Kevin thinks it will be great for parties, and now it will be even easier for us to cook for a crowd. Since we now have three charcoal grills, we can use separate grills for separate dishes which will make it easier for us to make multiple dishes at once, even if they require different temperatures. We also have the electric smoker, and I have to say that we get a more intense smoke flavor from that than we do from the charcoal - or at least it permeates the meat more. For smoking chilies, only the charcoal will do the job the way I want it. The BGE that we bought also has a pizza stone and can be used for grilling pizza - something that I've been wanting to do since first visiting the pizza making forum. We bought some outdoor lights for our pergola, and I think they will provide way more light than we required, but at least we can lower the wattage when we want to. I haven't bought anything for lighting the fountain yet because I want to have that installed by an electrician on an exterior wall of the house. I'm hoping to light much of the back yard that way and have it on a dimmer. I don't really want underwater lights in my fountain at this point but will talk with the electrician about that. I'm thinking that I will get my yard lit in stages and start off with getting some outdoor outlets installed at strategic points so that lights could be hooked up later. We went out for dinner this evening because I wanted sushi! We haven't assembled the Big Green Egg yet. Lars

LG Electronics, Sears Kenmore dryers recalled over fire hazard The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission recently announced that LG Electronics and Sears are voluntarily recalling about 21,000 gas dryers because of overheating and fire hazard issues. The recall, announced Aug. 21, includes not only LG Electronics brand dryers sold nationwide, but also Kenmore Elite gas dryers sold at Sears stores across the country. The dryers were sold between November 2009 and August 2010, retailing between $650 and $1,500. The manufacturers are recalling the dryers in cooperation with the Consumer Product Safety Commission after 141 customers complained of dryers that continued to heat after the drying cycle was complete, according to the agency. There were three reports of customers suffering minor burns to the hands or arms, and there were reports of burnt or scorched clothing in more than 50 incidents. The issue with the recalled dryers involves the gas valve failing to shut off properly. Burn, fire and smoke inhalation are risks that can result from the drum scorching as well as burns or damage to the dryer contents from the high temperatures inside and on the exterior surface of the affected dryers. The Consumer Product Safety Commission is warning that anyone with a recalled dryer should turn off the gas supply and stop using it until it is repaired. Those who purchased LG or Kenmore brand dryers from Sears should contact Sears customer service to schedule a free repair to replace the gas valve, while those who bought LG brand dryers at stores other than Sears stores should contact LG customer service to arrange for a free gas valve replacement.
