Granite steam pots

Does anyone know if you can use those granite steam pots on a charcoal grill? The kind you steam clams and lobsters in. I am afraid I will either ruin the pot or the water will take forever to get hot enough. I appreciate any input. Thanks

On top of the grill? yes. Directly on the coals? No. I use one over an open fire quite often, and it's never harmed it.

I appreciate the answer. I did buy one and the store owner said it would be safe to put on a grill. Thanks again.

coat the bottom/sides with liquid dish soap to make outside of it easy to clean. don't get any of the soap on the inside-- you will think you ate exlax.

"coat the bottom/sides with liquid dish soap to make outside of it easy to clean. don't get any of the soap on the inside-- you will think you ate exlax." Dang, can't believe that I forgot to mention that. Not as big a deal on a charcoal stove, but a BIG help when cooking over an open fire. That used to be a staple of Boy Scout cooking prep when I was with the organization.
