grill pads - advice? how well do they work?

Posted by herbabuena (My Page) on

I just bought a grill pad from Agway you can see it here: (http://www.diversitech.com/grill_pad.asp).

I'm hoping to use it under my Weber Smoky Joe on my deck. Does anyone have any experience with these? Should I trust it to shield the deck from the heat?

For years and years we used a Weber kettle on a wood deck with no ill effects....but for some grease spots.
Got a new deck and I didn't want any more grease spots, so we put the grill on a square of masonite in the winter and on a brick pad off the deck in the summer.
Don't think you need anything too high tech.
