This BBQ grill seems fairly new on the market, and a friend of our bought one at Costco. There doesn't seem to be any other experiences on them, so I posted a new thread in the Cooking Forum. With winter coming, grills often go on sale, so I thought I'd better get this up on the boards before the remainder get tucked away in warehouse inventory! I second on the smoked salmon. Smoked sturgeon is even better. We use Traeger pellets; for smoking we sometimes chip our own apple and cherry we've pruned and dried. But that takes a powerful chipper. The Traeger grills are different. For one thing, they run on electricity. That means you do have to have reasonable access to a power source. We have an outlet on the patio. Because of the way air circulates, you don't need a rotisserie and there are no flareups. That can be a big consideration for people who find grilling intimidating. I would compare it to learning how to use a new range. If you can figure out appliances, a Traeger is no problem. There are Traeger owners nationwide. It's a friendly group and I'm betting you could call Traeger to hook you up with someone in your area willing to show you how they work. Seeing the real thing can make a big difference. Then you can decide, "Yes, this is just what I want," or maybe you'll decide, "This isn't for me." Everyone has preferences. Grill is the only way I've done a turkey in some time. Never timed mine just let the charcoal burn all the way out... probably 4-5 hours. Does not make a picture perfect turkey but a leg bone will pull off when it is done. Mine usually fall apart getting them off the grill... sorta gotta roll it into a pan. Boiling the bones and skin after you are done eating off it makes a fine broth. Broth is smokey so it makes fine bean soup. Strain it to get the skin and bones back out. : ) lyra

I think you are too late.....that's a process already patented. It's designed to use up time and make use of lots of equipment to do a rather simple task, and in doing so spend hours manipulating said equipment when time would accomplish the same task. It often involves thermometers, re-rigged motors, sharp knives, scissors, various bending tools and carefully temperature controlled water baths and roasting ovens. Fiddley fuss also makes copious use of various colored viscous liquids and shreds of unknown fibers placed randomly upon the items being fussed with. Sorry Duane....someone's beat you to that patent!! But perhaps there might be more than one patent involved in the process, and you could find a way to clearly define the task. Yours in Pun, Linda C
