Flavoring

I have been considering buying a gas grill (convience) but really like the taste of charcole grilled foods. I was wondering is there a way to get that flavor from a gas grill?

RE: Flavoring

I have grilled my whole adult life on a Weber kettle charcoal grill. We recently moved to an apartment, and with having to downsize, I gave up my kettle and bought a Weber Q 300 gas grill. I used it for the first time today. If I were blindfolded, I'm not sure I could've told the difference between the food off this grill and the food off my old charcoal grill. This gas grill even managed to smell up the neighborhood like my old charcoal kettle. So I don't think you should worry too much about adding flavorings. We cooked steak, salmon, chicken, burgers and hot dogs. Everything was wonderful! Perhaps it was because I had such low expectations of the food flavor from a gas grill, but I was greatly impressed by this grill! I am sure I even have more grilling surface area on this grill than on my old 22 1/2" Weber kettle.
