Vermont Castings or Weber?

Posted by lyban (My Page) on

I am looking at either the Weber or Vermont Castings Grill.
I cannot decide but did notice that the new Webers seem to come with s/s grates. Where as the Vermont castings grates are Porcelain enamel.
I am wondering how the s/s grates are for cooking and cleaning. My old model grill uses enameled Porcelain and it cleans up very well.
I hate to not buy the weber because of this but it might be an issue.

RE: Vermont Castings or Weber?

I'm doing the same debate. Overall the Weber (S620) seems better made, but the VC has significantly higher btu's per sqaure inch of grill area. The VC is 117 btu's / sq " while the Weber is only 86. Theoretically the VC will do a much better job of searing/carmelizing meat.

Curious if anyone else has thoughts on these 2 mfr's.
