2 Part Tile Questions: Tile Grout Width & Right Angle Cuts

First issue relates to grout widths
I have my drawing set up to use 1/16" spacers. If one were to zoom into the drawing program I've used you could see the grout space at 1/16". I have 12x24" (30x60cm) italian porcelain rectified tile. My walls are flat and plumb. I have a 3 wall alcove shower I want to tile. I am a novice, but have done several tile jobs on other projects in my house.

1) Is 1/16" too small for me to work?

2) Or should I go a little wider, like 3/32"?

The second part of this post is related to cutting tile.
I have a large tile cutter with a 10" blade. The blade is of unknown quality and unknown sharpness. I Think I would like to get a new blade before I start this phase of the tile installation. I want to make very precise cuts that will show.

1)Can I neatly cut an "L" shaped piece of tile to surround my niche?

2) Any tricks to help me with this process?

3) What brand of 10" blade is recommended? I can get a Dewalt at Lowes but it seems a little thick. Or I could order one on line without a problem. Help!

My layout:
