What are the advantages of grid vs. running bond in a small corner layout? I like the look of the running bond better, but as a novice tiler I want to use the most forgiving, safest layout. In the pic, where the height changed is where the corner will be. The larger side is behind the sink, and is 30 1/4" x 14 1/2". Around the corner is 243/8" x 11 3/4". I'm using 4 1/4" field tiles and 1" mosaic accent tiles, mesh mounted. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Running bond is more forgiving, since you don't have to worry if the vertical joints line up exactly perfect. Are you only doing two rows, though? If so, I think stacked would look better, and it shouldn't be hard to keep the joints perfect. The row of mosaics in between the top row and the rest gives you some leeway, too.

Thanks for weighing in, catbuilder. My DH decided he prefers the grid layout saying it will go better with the beadboard wainscoting, so we are going with the grid. I can't wait to get the tile up yet I'm a nervous wreck that I will screw it up!
