I would keep the same finish, unless it was a bold contrasting color. The brushed nickel is often times a soft golden silver. See Kohler's nickel and chrome and see the difference. Chrome has a blue undertone. Polished stainless is almost like chrome but a very slight difference here too. If it were me I would try very hard to keep the same metal finishes. I had to get a polished stainless steel grab bar to go with my chrome faucets to keep the price down. Chrome over brass was more expensive. I got a pretty good match. Same reflection and very very close color. The style was important too.
