 o
where should my hvac vent go?

hi - we tore out a wall to incorporate a laundry room into a master bath and now the heating vent that had been in the bathroom is in the middle of the new floor. there's no where obvious to put it now... any suggestions?

here is the layout... the small rectangle is where the vent is now - it's small, like maybe 3" x 12", smaller than a regular vent. the larger rectangle that's not labeled is the 29" door that will open out, into the bedroom. I plan to put storage between the doorway and the shower, against the wall. the exhaust fan is between the vanity & the current hvac vent. we have almost complete access from below.

thanks,
Lisa

There appear to be 2 logical options. If your joists below are running vertically as pictured, you can extend (or reduce) the vent run and install a toekick register under the vanity. If the joists run horizontally, a toekick under the storage cabinet would work. If you have open/furniture style storage, you can just move the vent back to the wall. As long as the vent is low enough to push the air under the unit, you should have no issues.

thanks for that - i never even thought about a toe-kick vent. i had thought about putting it next to the toilet until my friend said "but if your toilet backs up..." yuck :)
