I had wallpaper in my main bathroom (used by 4 children and 2 adults) and both the upstairs and downstairs hallways (including stairs) for 20 years. I never had any problem with it.

I have wallpapered every wall in my house at least twice over the 40 years we've lived here. For bathroom or for hallways where kids just cannot walk down w/o putting their hands on the walls, select a vinyl coated paper. I always select "scrubbable/strippeable" except for the grass cloth in our bedroom. No problems ever in the bathrooms. Ever. Go for it! There are many tutorials on the internet.
