Aquaglide applied on Starphire glass by hand?

We are doing Starphire glass on some of our shower doors. The shower door company owner says the only protectant that can be apied on Starphire glass is Aquaglide, which they will apply by hand. "By hand" screams inconsistency of finish to me. Is this commonly applied this way? Is it worry it if you have softened well water? Thanks!

Can you get Showerguard? It is actually "baked" into the glass at the factory, nothing applied that can wear off eventually. I had it in my last shower and it was WONDERFUL!!

I'm not sure. The shower door company owner said this was the only option if I chose Starphire glass. I'll ask him about Showerguard. Thanks.

He is incorrect. PPG Showerguard is called "Ultra White" which is the crystal clear Showerguard for Low Iron or Starphire Glass. He may be referring to an aftermarket product as he may have already ordered the glass and does not want to eat it but he is 100% wrong on his statement.
