Height of tub surround?

My new master bath will have a showerless tub. Not really a "garden tub," but just a 60"x32"x23" soaker, "alcove" style. Because I'm going to have a handheld sprayer on the tub, I'd like to protect the walls around the tub.

I was thinking a row or two of tile around the top of the tub... but how high should I go? And how silly is it going to look?

My other thought was a PVC or vinyl beadboard throughout the room, including the tub, so the height would be about 42" from the floor.

I'd go about 12-18". That should be more than enough to protet from any errant spray from a hand held sprayer.
