Shower glass on mosaic tiled curb: is it awful to keep clean?

Posted by staceyneil (My Page) on

As we narrow down our materials choice, we keep running intot the problem of what to use on the shower curb. We'll have frameless glass wall and door, and the shower walls will be tiled in white glass mosaic (with white grout). People have said it is far preferable to have a solid curb, or at least larger tiles for less grout lines.

Anyone have mosaic? Any regrets? Does the grout under the glass get all discolored and impossible to clean?

I have a curbless shower, and I noticed that the grout under the door seal did get grungy. We now keep the door slightly ajar to prevent scummy buildup on the grout.

Your best bet for that curb is some kind of solid piece. Short of that, though, your idea for cutting down the 12x12 onyx and polishing the edges is the best so far.

Thanks Bill. Some pieces of calacatta marble or even a white marble might work there. I'm on it...

I just sent you an email, by the way!
