should I allow my plumber to run flex lines to my tub filler

| I now have two pex water lines coming up through the floor for my claw foot tub. (originally was supposed to be a wall mounted filler). He wants to use shiny metallic flexible lines to connect from the floor to the rim mounted tub filler. They will be on the side, tub is about 6" from wall. He says they are much better than freestanding which can get bumped, leak corrode etc. I am wondering about aesthetics but mostly about flow rate. It is a soaker tub. Have had lots of issues with the plumber so need a second opinion. Any recomendations for a rim mounted claw foot tub filler with good flow rate would also be helpful. - Anne |

In short, no. Insist on real chromed brass lines. Have matching shutoffs placed at floor level, in case they did get bumped loose. He either wants to do it quick & dirty, or he doesn't want to waste his time sourcing the right one, when he can pull the flex stainless ones off the shelf and they will fit, but be super unattractive and only be 3/8" dia. at best. The chrome ones will be 1/2" Casey |

| For a claw foot tub, chromed brass lines. He just doesn't want to fit them, which must be done carefully. I can understand (theoretically anyway) why flex lines can be better on a toilet, because a toilet can loosen and move slightly and the flex line has give. A clawfoot tub isn't going to move. |

i disagree. He may be offering you a good alternative. Now, esthetically, will it please the eye? That depends. |
