Mixing finishes and being unsuccesful at it

I went to Fergusons and threw out my original plans for our MB renovations and now I am even second guessing that. My original plan was to match the tub to the shower components either chrome or polished nickel and my sink faucets which are antique nickel purchased a year and a half ago from PB, but are made by Waterworks and the handles on my vanity which are dark would just be different and that would be ok.

Both my husband and the salesperson at Fergusons said since the vanity is across from the tub those should match. Couldn't find a matching finish with anyone else and the Waterworks line is outrageously expensive. DH also told me the is more modern than rustic, so wanted to change it up a bit if changes were in order. We decided not to use the PB fixtures and all chrome everything, found a faucet we both agreed on. I looked at my old board again and I am unsure. Are my husband and the salesperson right, because of the proximity should the faucet match the tub spout?
