How tall you are is the key to how to hang it so asking others for their dimensions could cause you to place yours way too high or too low. Here's a picture showing mine:

Well, that makes perfect sense! I don't know why I was thinking it should be a certain distance from the light or vanity top. I'll just place it wherever it works best for me :)

If you are short and your mirror tilts, I'd hang it a bit high so that if you sell your house, the new taller owner won't have to rehang it.

I'm tall, so where I want it seemed like it would be too high. Since it tilts, I was wondering if it would look better mounted at some "standard" height. But there doesn't seem to be one. Centered with the height of the vanity mirror seems to look the best to me, so I might just go with that.

Mine extends but I never need to do that as it is on the wall right next to my sink, so I pull out my make-up drawer and face right. Having to always adjust a mirror is a PIA. Hotel ones are never in the right place for me. If you have to tilt it you will have to bend your head forward or back to use it easily. Would that be comfortable for you day after day? Can you hold yours in the place you would like it to be then mount it at that height. This is your bathroom and the next person can move it to suit them.

Thank you, Babka! I do have a wall at one end of my vanity, but had not thought about putting it there. I will take a look, as that seems to make more sense than putting it on the same wall as the vanity mirror.
