It's actually a piece of walnut I believe and there's a channel in the back with several cylindrical magnets which latch on to a metal bracket that screws into the wall with two screws. I used to have two of them, but I just gave one away to my neighbor because I couldn't bring myself to drill through the marble backsplash as I had done with the last one, and because I now have enough drawer space to put the other knives in a drawer block.

I'll try to figure out what brand it is for you. I think it was like $30, but I've had it for 6 years.
