| Here's an update on the progress I've made in my kitchen, and I thank everyone for the help with the backsplash (it's much easier to get tile and grout help here sometimes than the kitchen forum). The honed calacatta gold remnant I bought for a steal was installed yesterday, and my contractor came today and finished his end. I still have to paint trim and touch up some of the corners and seal the marble backsplash. Enjoy, for now.

| I feel like I could reach out and pet both the cat and the counter - both are gorgeous! It's not surprise that you did a wonderful job. Are the full details over on the kitchen forum? I'm curious about your wooden magnetic knife bar. Did you cover one of the metal ones with a wood strip, or do they come that way? |

| It's actually a piece of walnut I believe and there's a channel in the back with several cylindrical magnets which latch on to a metal bracket that screws into the wall with two screws. I used to have two of them, but I just gave one away to my neighbor because I couldn't bring myself to drill through the marble backsplash as I had done with the last one, and because I now have enough drawer space to put the other knives in a drawer block. I'll try to figure out what brand it is for you. I think it was like $30, but I've had it for 6 years. Thanks, everyone. |
