Marble Tile Job Problem Grout Haze

hello,

I just had my bath remodeled. I choose white honed marble for the shower pan flooring. The contractor left grout all over the marble such that in many places all you see if the white grout.

Anyone know what the proper way to remove the grout from the marble. Its been a few weeks. The contractor promised to clean but ultimately said he could not (or simply did not).

See the picture. Shows the new extra piece of marble versus what the contractor did.

Any help is appreciated and also should did this be considered a deduction or damage on behalf of the contractor that deserves a price reduction or other remedy?

What kind of grout did he use?

I believe it was white unsanded grout.

Sounds like he didn't seal the tile before grouting. The joints look horrid. What is the joint size?

What should ibdo?

Should I simply deduct for the damaged marbke and cost of installation. Have someone else install.
It's not soap scum. It's grout.

Ridiculous. I told to seal right away.
Contractor said he was going to seal last.

I guess you'll have to get a stone restoration pro in there for a opinion and quote. If it can be repaired, he should cover the cost.

Is the grout in the joints defective? They look awful on my monitor. What is the joint size? Joints over 1/8" I believe it is need sanded grout to hold together well.

Of course if he ruined your floor he needs to pay for a new one.

Check over on john bridge tile forum. I think you can also find someone local there.

It's 2 X2 mosaic tile on the shower floor.
1/8 ? Hmm, not sure.

I included another pic. The pic again shows the original new tile I placed on top for comparison .

Being honed marble, it might be able to be resurfaced if chemicals won't work. The grout looks narrow and better in this shot but I really can't see the details to make a judgment.

If he can't fix it, you can only call a restoration service to advise and quote. Post on JB for some quick prof opinions.

Don't pay the balance until things are resolved or you will have no leverage, unless you paid by credit card so you can dispute the charges.

JB = john bridge forum. Its a tile forum with very good information from pros and DIY'ers alike. I am so sorry this has happened. As time goes by the grout gets harder and harder.

What Trebruchet recommended might work. I'd see if you could look at an actual bottle and see the label before I'd use it. The description on the website that is linked sounds like it might work. But I have never seen or used it before.
