New bathroom fans

Your answers have been so good and rapid on so many topics since we've come to our new house, so I keep thinking of more. Thanks in advance for sharing your ideas!

I've done the calculation posted elsewhere on this forum to determine the cfm we would appear to need for new bathroom fans. I want to make sure that we have adequate ventilation for a retiled kids' bathroom and for a total gut renovation that we are doing in our tiny master bath.

Is there any other information that I would need to consider to determine the best fan for each of these rooms?

Also, being a total novice in terms of these services -- Who installs bathroom fans? Is it the role of an electrician if the location for the fan is being moved and must be rewired? Can anyone do it if it's staying in the same place?

Hi there are lots of threads here regarding bathroom fans. I'll link one and you might want to search for some of the others. I installed a Fantech, which I love. You can use one fan motor (they are installed in the attic if you have room there) and the grill and lights can be installed in two different baths. I chose the one with halogen light because it could be installed directly in the shower and could be on a dimmer. Other people seem very happy with Panasonic Whisper Quiet. My GC installed my fan motor, but I think the electrician wired the timer and maybe the lights? Don't really know.

The Fantech is SO quiet, you would never know it is running, but it moves an incredible volume of air.

What are the length, width and height dimensions for you bathroom and what is the CFM rating of your current fan?

Panasonic has a helpful "choose your fan" application. Maybe it's applicable to other manufacturers?

I will second the fantech recommendation and below is a link for their bathroom fans. They have an illustration for dual location.

We also used halogen in our shower and it's on a 2 part switch.. dimmer and 60 minute countdown timer.

Our electrician installed everything but the duct work from the grills to the motor. We did that ourselves.
