Threshold of cast iron shower pan

We're hoping to use a cast iron shower pan (36 X 48), and butt it up to a built-in bench. The cast iron shower pans made by Kohler have three flange sides, but the threshold runs the entire length of one of the long sides. We were hoping to have a 30-36" door, and have a tiled wall on the remaining part of that threshold side.
My question is, is it possible to put a tiled wall on part of the threshold? Has anyone done that?

Why not have your shower door contractor install a 12-18" wide glass "sidelight"?

I should have explained that I was hoping to mount the toilet paper holder on that wall.

With the right kind of mount you could put in on the glass. They mount handles and towel bars through the glass, so this would take similar hardware.

I guess I hadn't thought of the possibility of mounting it on the glass. Are most toilet paper holders available with that type of mount? Thanks for your input!
