Just do a regular mud bed. About $20 worth of materials and it's custom fit to your floor....

That is most likely what I will do. It's not a huge bathroom and it would be nice not to have a curb. But I'm not shaving any floor joists or raising the floor.

I have read many times that code is to have the curb 2" above the drain. But I skimmed the Massachusetts building code and couldn't find it mentioned anywhere. Although, I concede it could be anywhere in that behemoth of a book(s) and I probably missed it.

StoneTech, are suggesting not using a shower pan? Just build the mud bed right on top of the subfloor? How does that work with a curbless entry shower if "lotteryticket" didn't want to raise the rest of the flooring in the bathroom? Lotteryticket, did you end up tryign the Tuff form? What did you think of it?

I am sure systems have changed int past 6 years and his advice if he is still around may be completely different.

We did use the tuff form pan for our curbless shower. I’m so glad we did. We had a relative who was wheel chair bound stay with us and the pan held up to the weight. I had a contractor install and tile so I can’t tell you too much other than we did not have to cut into a joist. I think there are probably better ways to get a curbless shower but no complaints on what we have.
