What shower tile with slate floor?

I'm thinking of using a slate floor similar to the one below for the guest and master bathrooms. We have the same slate in our kitchen so I thought using it in the bathrooms would offer some continuity.

I'd like a lighter, more neutral tile for the shower walls though, for a brighter look overall. Any suggestions on what wall tile might work with this slate? Would a porcelain or ceramic tile work? Gloss or matte?

I'm thinking of using a white subway tile in the guest bath, which will have more of a rustic, barn style. This bathroom will have a RH burnished steel medicine cabinet, white pedestal sink, pewter sconces, and a sliding barn door.

For the master bath, I thought a bone colored tile might work better with the adjoining bedroom, which has dark quartersawn oak mission furniture.
