Oxymoron.

No, I've found most of these I've used to be of adequate quality, often attractive, and always incredibly practical (no caulk or grout lines anywhere, which means almost no maintenence, mildew, or potential leaks, as well as a smooth, seamless appearance). I've used Lasko, Kohler, Aqua Glass, and a few brands I can't recall. Acrylic is supposedly better than gelcoat fiberglass, but I've found the latter to usually hold up quite well too.

One pieces are usually crap. Fiberglass crap. Moot point in a remodel because they won't go through the door. The Sterling, Kohler and other higher quality acrylic 4 or 5 pc modules are OK quality, if a little institutional in appearance.

Much better are the sold surface surrounds like Swanstone or Corian. Especially if they are custom fabricated by a shop that deals with solid surface and that can solvent weld them together in the field for (apparent) seamlessness.

Thanks to all for your input! We ended up with a four piece Sterling unit. The Aquatic was in our price range buy I wasn't crazy about the acrylic handle. Had to make a decision quickly. Oh, well. Another decision made... moving on. ðÂÂÂ

I agree with lee. I hate tile, grout and love simple.
