Is it Okay to put Shower Head and valve on opposite walls?

We are re-doing our tiny master bath - 5x8. When you enter, the sink and toilet are on right wall and the shower (60x30) is straight ahead. I am not 100% sure about doing shower doors because I hate my current sliders and I was told I'd have to do sliders because of limited space. So for now I want to try just doing a shower curtain. My thought was to put valve on left end wall of shower (where it currently is) and move the head and hand-held to opposite end which is an outside wall. (I guess I'm hoping in the future I can find a way to do a swinging shower door... and having the shower head on the outside wall would make that feasible.) As for Shower Curtain, there's a window and mildew has never been an issue even with a long-broken ceiling fan!

My plumber looked at me a little funny when I mentioned it. We live in So-Cal so I'm not worried about pipes freezing (shower head will be on outer wall). Am I likely to lose water pressure? Is there any reason not to do it?

Can you draw this out? I am wondering, if you put the valve where you want it, is it anywhere near the toilet?

Usually, if you do opposite ends, it is to get the valve in a place other than having to reach around the toilet to get to it.

We have a 4' x 5' shower in our master bath. The valve is on the left hand wall (interior wall) and the shower head and hand-held shower are on the right hand wall (exterior wall).

My brother in Newport Beach just did this with his bathroom reno and it's terrific. Wish I'd thought of it sooner.

I'm with you, I hate sliders. The track just gets gunky and sticks, and is unpleasant. Shower curtain, good.

FYI-we just installed a Panasonic Whisper Green fan/light unit in a bathroom (also S.CA) that's never had an issue with mold and mildew. It's so quiet that we leave the night light on when we leave it running after we leave the room. Otherwise, we don't hear it and forget to turn it off.

Same here.

Enter my walk-in shower and the two supply valves are on the wall to the right. The rain head is on the ceiling. The handheld is on the wall to the left.

The handheld plumbing has three extra 90s. No flow issues.
