Bathroom addition pocket door

My wife and I are buying a house and the master bath doesn't have a private toilet area. We want to add a wall with a pocket door (see picture). Code requires a 30"x60" space, with 15" each side of toilet center and 21" in front to the wall. I have the 15" and 21" parts, but as you can see from the picture one side is only 57.5". The other side is 90" due to the angled wall. Will this comply with code? Also, do I need to pull a permit?

On a side note: My friend just bought a brand new house and it has a private toilet in the master but is only 36"x53". How did the builder get away with not making it at least 60" long?
