I really love the look of the tub surround here:

We are almost ready to tile our master bathroom. The jacuzzi tub has a motor that needs to be somewhat easy to get to on the front skirt, so we don't want to tile down the whole surround. We were thinking something like the above would be easier to get into should we need to access the motor (do not want an access door ruining the line).

However, I do have small children that will occasionally use my bath. And I imagine even an adult climbing out will splash water on the surround. (The tub does not have a shower).

I have MDF beadboard in the hall bath that needs to be ripped out; it has swollen and warped where it has gotten repeatedly splashed.

Would real wood beadboard be a better solution, or is this whole idea not very practical? I'm worried about the trim / baseboard too for the same reasons.

Any advice/ideas would be great, thanks.
