Use the mirror "J" channel. It gets nailed or screwed to the wall and the mirror sits either in it ("J") or on it ("L").

At my local glass store we discussed some options for a mirror over my vanity, approx. 48x30. They assured me that it could be glued to the wall. Of course, taking it down would probably tear up the sheetrock, but it would stay put. I ended getting a framed mirror that size, and even heavier. If I were to go with an unframed mirror (and next time I would), I'd also go with a J channel.

Thanks for your responses. I looked up the J channel.. My concern with the one that is a solid length of metal is that it would cover the bevel. But I found some J channel clips that are only about an inch wide instead of the whole width of the mirror. That way, most of the bevel would show. So I could go with one of those at each corner, or those clips that come with the mirror.

I had a mirror about that size and weight glued to the wall. It rested on a pencil liner tile. Its been there about 5 months, no issues.
