Grout or caulk tub?

Posted by norcalkev (My Page) on

I have an older tiled bath stall (1959) with a shower door. Grout was used between the bottom of the tile and the top of the bathtub. I removed the old grout because it was breaking up. Should I re-grout or can I caulk with silicone caulk?

If I re-grout, do I seal it with silicone caulk?

Many thanks.

RE: Grout or caulk tub?

Silicone caulk...colour-matched if possible.

Fill the tub about 2/3 and then caulk it. Let it set for at least a day before draining it. This way, the caulk "takes a set" in the stressed position and is less likely to fail when full of water and you....
