towel warmers

There seems to be a huge difference in cost between the Warmrails towel warmers that one can find say at Amazon and the towel warmers carried by my local bathroom supply place. Any advice on towel warmers?
Thanks

We have a Warmrails Kensington (paid ~$150) and it works great.

There are a couple of factors that differentiate one from another; electric vs hydronic, dry electric vs wet bath electric, material used, and btu output. Then there is always a price differential between online stores and brick and mortar stores. Some online stores also sell seconds. Mongo

Huge difference in quality of towel warmers. Do not go for the cheapest! For a nice quality stainless (or polished stainless towel warmer) try Amma. Warma towel and Myson also make nice towel warmers.

Weedyacres, I want to get the Warmrails Kensington that you have. I am curious to know how many towels you put on your rack at one time and how you fold them and position them on the rack for the best heating results. Do you fold/position the towels any differently for drying than you do for heating? Also, I was wondering where you purchased it for $150, as the prices I've seen are around $200. Thanks! Susan

Ours holds 2 towels, one on the top and one on the bottom. We don't fold them, but spread them out so it's just one layer of towel, and the full towel width is touching the rails. (Actually, our towels are a few inches wider than the towel warmer, but it's close.) I'd post a photo, but we're on vacation right now. I'm happy to do so when we get home this weekend if you'd like. I bought ours about a year ago on amazon.com. Prices may have gone up since then.

Wow, Weedyacres, you're reading the forum while on vacation! Hope you're enjoying yourself after the stress of remodeling! Thanks for the reply. I understand exactly what you mean, no picture necessary, but thanks for offering. Your explanation is very helpful....I think I'm going to get the Kensington, I think it will work well for us and it is very reasonably priced compared to others I've seen. I know I'll end up splurging on some things for the new bathroom, but I just can't bring myself to spend one or two thousand dollars on a towel warmer. Do you use a timer on yours or leave it on all the time? If you do have a timer, what brand/model of timer is it? Thanks! Susan |

I have the Kensington as well but have not used it yet. The instructions say that it works best if you fold the towels so they are thicker. I got mine on Amazon and paid about $179.
