Seamless Shower Doors

I have a 3 foot wide shower with a hinge shower door, on the left side is the door with the handle, that glass is screwed into the wall with two brackets, but on the other side the stationary piece seems to just be held on with clamps and then siliconed to the wall? Is that normal, seems the silicone is not going to hold up for years and years. Thanks Cheri
