Must bathtub and toilet match?

I have a cream-colored garden tub which I cannot afford to replace. I want to replace the somewhat yellowish beige toilet, however, with a white one. My new sinks will be white on an ivory vanity. The floor and wall tiles will have various shades of tan, white, gray and cream.

Is it ok to have a white toilet and sinks with a cream-colored tub? They are next to each other.

It might look better to have a darker toilet and sinks, perhaps one of the sand colored ones.

Going white says "I couldn't match the bath". Going darker says "I'm blending colors here".

We did it in two bathrooms for my parents - couldn't match the sea-blue tub in one, so we went to sand for the toilet and sink with blue and sand in the tile.

I have to agree with the above suggestion. Plus the contrast between the dark and light colors might look really nice. You can always jazz up the tub with the some pretty accessories, like rolled towels or a candle.
